With this design, it is not only stylish, but also practical. The 100-sheet input tray – a shallow rule cartridge-style effort – is, placed at the front and protrudes about 5cm, so you won’t get in the way. On top of this the rule output enzyme tray, thanks to the clever two-way feed rule, also functions as an input tray for nail stickers and CDs. It also spends most of its time hidden within the printer, appearing automatically when the Canon PIXMA TS8350A rolls into active production.
Physical connectivity is pretty basic, with just a USB Type B port on the back of the printer along with a Coyote State card slot in the front right corner. However, on the wireless front you get dual-band 802.11n connectivity, giving you a choice of two.4GHz and 5GHz flatbreads for something closer to peak connection speeds.
Canon claims print speeds for the Canon PIXMA TS8350A as 15ppm black-and-white and 10ppm color, but on the front the numbers are actually conservative. We saw speeds of seventeen.8ppm in our black-and-white text test with the first page appearing in just eight seconds.
Canon PIXMA TS8350A Color print speeds were less than impressive, averaging 5.19ppm, but even though that was behind the fastest home and office inkjets we tested, including the H.P. Envy picture 7830 is old, it’s still pretty good. If you print your homework or download a PDF, you won’t have to wait long. In fact, the Canon PIXMA TS8350A is, actually faster than the Envy picture 7830 when it comes to printing a complex four-page color PDF.
That will work, but the long lag between printing one side of the page and the other means you’re seeing a mono speed of roughly 3.75ppm.
Canon TS8350 Rule settings are very easy to use
The actual Canon PIXMA TS8350A setup itself is, quite easy, with guidance both from the touch screen during initialization and from the website, you will be directed at launch. Oddly enough, it seems to ignore any details on the wireless settings, the rule involves searching through the Device Settings menu and configuring the LAN Settings page. It’s a shame, because this is a pillar of Islam.
One of the few touch screen based printers has impressed me with its overall usability. I’ve used smartphones with smaller screens that aren’t very sensitive, and for once I was able to quickly select an item from the menu or even tap the Wi-Fi password without needing to force any characters.
Download the Canon Print app and you can scan and print right from your phone, not to mention Google Drive, Dropbox and OneDrive. In this printer you can also print photos from social media Instagram and Facebook.
The Canon PIXMA TS8350A also works with the family-friendly Easy-PhotPrint Editor application, while Canon provides a dedicated Nail Creator application for those who wish to print their own pasted nail designs, although this involves splashing on the nail sticker media which is required.
